Senior EMC Engineer, Commercial Desktop Description - Job Summary This role is responsible for leading multiple project teams and overseeing the end-to-end product design and development process. The successful candidate will lead EMC design, compliance, validation, and troubleshooting activities for Desktop, Gaming, Workstation, Mini-PC, and Commercial Desktop platforms. As the EMC subject matter expert, this role drives EMC risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and product certification throughout the product lifecycle. The candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and ODM partners to ensure products meet global EMC requirements while establishing and promoting EMC design methodologies and best practices.
Responsibilities
Lead EMC architecture reviews, schematic and PCB layout evaluations, and define EMC design requirements and methodologies for desktop platforms. Drive EMC risk assessment and design optimization for high-speed interfaces, power delivery systems, grounding, shielding, filtering, and cable designs. Plan, execute, and support EMC pre-compliance testing, certification activities, validation strategies, and regulatory submissions. Perform EMC troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions for emissions, immunity, ESD, EFT, surge, and related compliance issues. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including EE, SI/PI, Mechanical, Thermal, BIOS, ODM, suppliers, and certification organizations to ensure successful product development and compliance. Provide technical guidance to ODMs and suppliers, review test reports and debug plans, and drive issue resolution throughout the product lifecycle. Serve as the EMC technical lead across desktop programs, mentor engineers, promote EMC best practices, and drive continuous improvement of EMC methodologies and platform designs.
Education and Experience
Recommended Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of EMC engineering experience. Proven experience supporting desktop, workstation, gaming desktop, or PC platforms. Strong knowledge of EMC regulations, high-speed digital design, PCB layout, grounding, shielding, and filtering techniques. Demonstrated ability to lead and guide EMC compliance testing, certification, and root-cause analysis efforts. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in both English and the local language.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting major PC OEM platforms. Familiarity with Intel and AMD desktop platforms, PCIe, DDR, USB4, Thunderbolt, DisplayPort, HDMI, Ethernet, and wireless technologies. Experience collaborating with leading ODMs on desktop and notebook products, including Foxconn, Inventec, Quanta, Compal, Wistron, and Pegatron, or working within an ODM organization. Strong project leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills. Experience mentoring engineers and driving cross-functional technical initiatives.
