About this role

Summary

Work as a senior member of a Performance Engineering scrum team to assess and analyse performance of Charles River’s products. Identify potential bottlenecks and come up with possible recommendations. Provide support and assistance to customers and other teams within Charles River.

Responsibilities

Partner with Product Owners, Engineering Teams, Architects, and Client Services to define Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs), performance objectives, scalability goals, and workload models. Performance Benchmarking: Create comprehensive Performance test plans from Non-functional Requirements Create and maintain performance scripts within performance test Frameworks Scenario and workload model design Design and Develop end to end CI/ CD pipelines to execute performance tests and artifact collection Analyse results to identify potential bottlenecks and provide recommendations Spin up and tear down Test Environments as and when required. Observability: Architect end to end observability strategies Enhance the existing observability framework leveraging Dynatrace and OEM Understanding of Dynatrace agent deployment, configuration and onboarding Design and develop end-to-end observability pipeline Dashboard and alert configuration. Performance Engineering: Analyse infrastructure (On prem and cloud), Application (Code, JVM, database) performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunities Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) leveraging Azure monitoring, Dynatrace, OEM Expertise in Java and .Net code profiling Expertise in understanding AWR/ASH reports, SQL execution plans, thread dumps, heap dumps, GC logs, and observability data Lead performance investigations into production issues, client escalations, and providing actionable remediation recommendations Drive performance engineering automation, capacity planning, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple product teams. Document software defects in issue tracking system, proactively communicate issues with developers and other project team members Adhere to a testing schedule to ensure efficient and effective product delivery Actively participate in the agile software development process by adhering to the CRD Scrum methodology including attending all daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.

Qualifications

Education: B.S. degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics or other technical course of study or Business with an MIS background. MS degree strongly preferred.

Experience

12-15 years of experience in Performance Engineering Domain Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills involving multi-tiered, high-performance database applications Extensive experience with Performance Testing Tools (LoadRunner, JMeter, Neo Load or equivalent) Extensive experience with Dynatrace Extensive experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Extensive experience with Azure Cloud platform Experience with C#, Java, SQL, Oracle, Python, PowerShell and Bash Exposure to Dev Ops skills, CICD Tools (Jenkins, TeamCity), Ansible, Terraform, Git/GitHub, Docker and Kubernetes Demonstrated experience implementing and executing performance benchmarking against web, native/desktop applications, APIs and batch jobs Demonstrated ability translating business requirements into comprehensive non-functional and technical test plans Knowledge in Financial Services a plus A minimum of 5 years working with an Agile development methodology strongly desired Effective written and verbal communication skills.
