Specialist I, Cybersecurity

Job Summary Analyze and monitor the organization’s cybersecurity measures; respond to actual penetration attempts by malicious hackers. Company Data Protection - Implement and contribute to design of disaster recovery and contingency plans to protect company data.

Data Collection and Analysis - Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.

Documentation and Backup - Create and maintain technical and/or user documentation to a high standard, and back up files to ensure instant recovery if problems occur.

Faults Diagnosis and Correction - Provide fault isolation and resolution to limit and address issues promptly.

Horizon Scanning - Explore and develop a basic understanding of external developments or emerging issues and contribute to the evaluation of their potential impact on, or usefulness to, the organization.

Information Security - Implement required security measures, such as firewalls or message encryption, monitoring performance to notify security experts of any problems.

Operational Compliance - Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.

Personal Capability Building - Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Policy Development and Implementation - Work within established procedures to achieve specified goals.

Technical Developments Recommendation - Research and suggest technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs.

Testing Information Technology (IT) Performance - Perform website/applications software tests and respond to user emails to monitor, diagnose, and correct performance issues.
