IT System Quality Engineer II

As an IT System Quality Engineer II , you'll help ensure the technology that powers APS is reliable, secure, and ready to support our employees and customers. You'll partner with project teams to build quality into technology solutions from the earliest stages of delivery by defining testing strategies, ensuring requirements and test cases are clear and effective, and providing quality oversight throughout the project lifecycle. Rather than serving as a software developer or hands-on tester, you'll help teams follow established quality practices, identify risks, strengthen processes, and continuously improve the frameworks that support successful technology delivery. Your work plays an important role in delivering dependable technology that supports the safe and reliable delivery of energy to Arizona communities.   What Your Day Would Be Like:

Partner with project teams to build quality into applications and technology solutions from planning through implementation. Define testing and quality strategies that help teams identify risks early and deliver reliable business outcomes. Review requirements, test plans, and test cases to ensure they are clear, complete, and executable. Collaborate with developers, business partners, and technical teams to ensure solutions meet business needs and quality standards. Evaluate testing results, quality metrics, and project readiness to support informed decision-making. Drive continuous improvement by supporting quality processes, governance practices, and quality framework development across projects.

Experience in software quality assurance, quality engineering, quality governance, or IT testing across the software development lifecycle. Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, risk-based testing strategies, and technology quality practices. Experience defining test strategies, reviewing requirements and test cases, and providing quality oversight across projects. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify risks and recommend practical solutions. Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. IT System Quality Engineer II

BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or equivalent combination of relevant work experience and completed years of college coursework. PLUS of five (5) years information systems audit or QA experience. General exposure to the implementation of quality management systems (QMS). ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) or equivalent. Strong technical knowledge within a business domain or system and intermediate knowledge across related technical areas

ASQ CSQE (Certified Software Quality Engineer), ASQ CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or equivalent. Knowledge of software/systems development and maintenance lifecycles and applicable quality assurance methodologies and best practices as well ancillary processes (e.g. project/product lifecycle, change management, etc.) Major Accountabilities
