Senior Lead Software Engineer Digital Solutions Vice President

Citi is looking for a Principal Software Engineer, Digital Solutions, Vice President, to serve as a recognized technical authority within its Digital organization, shaping next-generation architecture and setting the engineering standard across multiple lines of business. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of senior software engineering and enterprise architecture, owning design governance, coaching engineering teams, and directly influencing the technology decisions that power Citi's digital transformation. You will operate with full autonomy, lead through ambiguity, and deliver measurable impact across large-scale, cross-functional digital programs.

Lead the architecture and delivery of large-scale digital engineering programs, owning design decisions from the pre-planning phase through to implementation across cloud platforms including AWS and Akamai. Chair design reviews for both agile and structured delivery projects, establishing reusable design patterns that are adopted across engineering teams and lines of business. Conduct code reviews for next generation microservices architecture, ensuring solutions meet performance, scalability, and engineering quality standards. Define and publish engineering metrics across design reviews, code reviews, CI/CD pipeline adoption, and pattern implementation to give stakeholders clear visibility of quality and progress. Mentor and coach software engineers, elevating technical capability across teams and embedding engineering best practices throughout the software development lifecycle. Translate technical and business risks into clear, actionable guidance for senior stakeholders, enabling informed decisions on delivery timelines, trade-offs, and constraints. Identify and resolve delivery blockers across agile and waterfall programs, aligning cross-functional teams to maintain momentum on complex, high-priority digital initiatives. Assess technology and business risk in engineering decisions, ensuring solutions adhere to relevant policies and maintain the integrity of Citi's platforms and clients. Required Qualifications & Skills 6 to 10 years of experience in application development, or equivalent senior-level experience in an enterprise architecture role with deep subject matter expertise in at least one technology domain. Hands-on expertise with cloud platforms including AWS and PCF, with the ability to apply architectural patterns across both internal and external cloud environments. Advanced knowledge of algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, and networking, applied to architect and lead the adoption of scalable, high-performance solutions. Demonstrated ability to automate code quality, unit testing, and build processes within CI/CD pipelines to accelerate delivery and maintain engineering standards. Ability to operate independently at a senior level, making architectural decisions with significant business impact and leading technical direction without close oversight. Bachelor's degree or equivalent university-level qualification in a relevant field. Beneficial Skills & Qualifications Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline. Familiarity with financial industry technology standards and how they apply to the design and delivery of digital banking platforms. Experience working with next-generation architecture frameworks and emerging cloud-native technologies, including containerized microservices and event-driven systems.
