Seeking a candidate who enjoys providing creative solutions for our partners, embraces technology and is constantly thinking of a better way to do things. The ideal applicant works well in a team-oriented environment, is able to manage their time appropriately to ensure all deadlines and expectations are met, can work efficiently through tasks, can effectively build and maintain relationships by utilizing a strong set of soft skills and is comfortable analyzing and discussing basic insurance data in order to drive their external partners towards production and profitability goals. In this role, an Associate Underwriter is expected to handle daily referrals, manage external partners towards production and profitability goals, manage projects from planning to completion and support the Underwriters with various team work flows. What you'll be doing
Underwrite a suite of unique admitted products like Special Event and Cyclist as well as an E&S Homeowners and dwelling product Support the Underwriters with teamwork flows and distribution of emails and referrals Manage assigned partners to ensure profitable growth and gain market feedback Manage projects and tasks with autonomy from planning to completion within deadlines Participate in group projects as assigned Be the lead on the shared resource inboxes while managing your personal inbox What we're looking for: 2 years of insurance experience or professional experience in a similar field Ability to work on central time zone schedule Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and Office 365 Experience in agency relationship management (wholesale preferred) Who we are: Markel Group (NYSE – MKL) a fortune 500 company with over 60 offices in 20+ countries, is a holding company for insurance, reinsurance, specialist advisory and investment operations around the world.
