The SAP Internship Experience Program is SAP’s global, strategic, paid internship program that provides university students withopportunities to find purpose in their careers. This is more than an internship, it’s the foundation for a career built on connection , creativity, and impact.

Position title: SAP iXp Intern - AI Technical Program Manager, AI & Machine Learning Location: Palo Alto, California Expected start date to end date: November 2026 - May 2027

AI Lifecycle Coordination: Help drive projects through the unique phases of ML development, including data collection/annotation, model training, evaluation, and deployment.

Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as the connective tissue between ML engineers, traditional software engineers, product managers, and data teams to ensure everyone is aligned on project goals.

Project Tracking: Monitor milestones specific to AI projects (e.g., dataset readiness, model evaluation metrics, inference latency goals).

Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify bottlenecks—such as data pipeline delays or compute resource constraints—and escalate issues to senior TPMs or engineering leads.

Process Improvement: Observe how the AI teams collaborate and propose lightweight workflows to help streamline data handoffs and model iteration cycles.

Documentation: Maintain up-to-date project wikis, status reports, and model documentation (e.g., model cards, data dictionaries) for stakeholders.

Build reports: Build reports and updates for SAP’s leadership team

We’re looking for someone who takes initiative , perseveres, and stay curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.

Solid foundational understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning concepts (e.g., supervised vs. unsupervised learning, LLMs, generative AI, training vs. inference).

Solid foundational understanding of Data Analytics and AI concepts (e.g., database structures, ETL/ELT processes, BI reporting, supervised learning, GenAI).

Solid comprehension of software development lifecycles (SDLC) and agile methodologies.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex AI research or technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

Highly organized with a robust attention to detail and an initiative-taking, problem-solving mindset.

Experience building an application using Agentic engineering tools like Claude Code

Previous internship, research, or project experience working on ML, Data Science, or AI infrastructure projects.

Knowledge with the AI ecosystem, including frameworks (e.g., Langchain) or platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure & AWS).

Knowledge of data privacy, responsible AI practices, or model evaluation metrics.

Knowledge with Excel & PowerPoint

Demonstrated leadership experience in university clubs, hackathons, or group projects focused on AI/ML.
