Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY: The Shipping Lead Person / Forklift Operator is responsible for the receiving of ingredients and packaging materials. This role will unload trucks and put incoming material away in designated locations. Perform cycle counts and month end inventory of ingredients and packaging. Processes inbound and outbound packages. The lead will also provide training and direction to receiving team on three shifts. Perform Shag Driver duties as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Schedules UPS and FedEx outgoing and incoming packages as needed. Responsible for daily processing of inbound and outbound shipments that includes completing Goods Receipt and delivering paperwork to the accounting department. Delivers the materials for plant to plant and company to company transfers to the appropriate staging area. Inspects and verifies counts of all inbound product discrepancies to manager. Complete inspection report on all incoming trailers. Document overall condition of pallets and product. Conducts monthly cycle counts of ingredients and packaging materials. Performs recounts as needed. Assigns work direction to receiving forklift operators on three shifts. Works evening hours as needed to help train and provides coverage during absences. Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly dry ingredient and packaging warehouse by overseeing housekeeping duties in the respected areas. Operate forklift in safe and efficient manner and maintain forklift certification. Perform daily forklift inspection. Rotate inventory to comply with FIFO to ensure the oldest product is used first. Maintains consistent communication and fosters teamwork between all personnel, departments and shifts. Involvement in organizational teams and committees. Schedules receiving staff to cover weekends, vacations and extraordinary circumstances. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products. Perform pre-operation inspection as required by company guidelines to ensure vehicle and trailer/tanker are in safe operating condition. Watch for and report any unsafe conditions in parking areas. Move trailers and tankers in and out of dock area and tanker bay as instructed while avoiding cargo loss or damage. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIE NCE REQUIRED: High school diploma or G.E.D or an equivalent combination of education and experience Effectively read, write and speak English. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) One to three months related experience and/or training experience preferred in a warehouse setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful completion of Powered Industrial Truck training program and ability to pass forklift certification. PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Computer knowledge or the ability to learn the following computer programs Word, Excel, Outlook and SAP.
