The Payments & Commercial Abuse Analyst identifies, investigates, and mitigates fraud, abuse, and monetization risks across Adobe's commerce ecosystem. Through data-driven investigations, payment risk analysis, abuse detection, and cross-functional partnerships, the team uncovers emerging threats, develops scalable mitigations, and delivers actionable intelligence that protects revenue, reduces customer friction, and strengthens trust in Adobe products and services. Key Responsibilities & Areas of Impact - The responsibilities below represent the primary areas of focus for this role and may evolve alongside emerging risks, business priorities, and organizational needs. Payments Risk & Commercial Abuse Investigations Investigate complex payment fraud, monetization abuse, account misuse, and commercial abuse schemes impacting Adobe's commerce ecosystem , including unauthorized resale activity, synthetic identity abuse, payment instrument abuse, chargeback fraud, refund abuse, and the unauthorized use, distribution, or commercialization of Adobe products and services. Analyze transactions, customer behaviors, payment activity, subscription usage, account relationships, and associated signals to identify suspicious patterns, assess risk exposure, determine root cause, and recommend mitigation, enforcement, or policy actions. Evaluate escalations, emerging threat patterns, and high-risk activity to develop risk assessments and response recommendations. Analytics, Intelligence & Detection Development Utilize SQL, analytical tools, and investigative methodologies to identify trends, uncover fraud patterns, validate hypotheses, and generate actionable intelligence. Translate investigative findings into scalable detection strategies, risk signals, decisioning logic, and operational controls that reduce fraud while minimizing friction for legitimate customers. Partner with Data Science, Engineering, and AI teams to define abuse indicators, improve model performance, and enhance detection capabilities through investigator-driven insights and feedback loops. Produce intelligence assessments, trend analyses, and strategic insights on emerging abuse patterns, monetization risks, and evolving fraud trends across Adobe's commerce ecosystem. Commerce Risk Strategy & Optimization Balance fraud prevention objectives with customer experience considerations when evaluating controls, policies, detection strategies, and enforcement actions. Provide recommendations to strengthen payment risk controls, fraud mitigation strategies, automation opportunities, and long-term commerce risk initiatives while balancing customer experience and business objectives. Collaborate with Product, Commerce, Risk, Customer Support, Trust & Safety, and Engineering teams to address emerging threats, improve platform resilience, and drive sustainable risk reduction strategies. Qualifications & Core Competencies : Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex investigative findings, payment risk data, and abuse trends into clear, actionable recommendations. Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to identify patterns, assess risk, and transform complex data into meaningful insights that drive informed decision-making. Experience using SQL /SPL and data analysis techniques to support investigations, validate hypotheses, identify trends, and generate actionable intelligence. A naturally inquisitive and investigative mindset, with a passion for understanding how malicious actors exploit commerce systems, products, and business processes. Strong understanding of payment and commerce risk concepts, including chargebacks, friendly fraud, account abuse, refund abuse, affiliate abuse, subscription fraud, identity risk, monetization abuse, and common payment ecosystem risks.
