Job Title: Senior Network Engineer (WAN) - GCS Job Summary: The Senior Network Engineer (WAN) within Global Connectivity Solutions (GCS) is responsible for executing vulnerability remediation, lifecycle management, software upgrades, and technical change activities across enterprise WAN infrastructure. The role provides technical leadership for deployment activities, complex troubleshooting, change execution, and service restoration involving Cisco Routing and Switching, Versa SD-WAN, WAN links, and associated connectivity platforms. The position works with Network Engineering, Network Operations, Information Security, Change Management, Outage Management, Product Owners, vendors, service providers, and other stakeholders to maintain platform currency, deliver remediation programs, and ensure production changes are implemented safely with minimal business disruption. Drive vulnerability remediation activities across Versa SD-WAN, Cisco Routing and Switching, and WAN connectivity platforms. Perform software and firmware upgrades on Cisco ISR and ASR routers, Catalyst platforms supporting WAN connectivity, Versa SD-WAN controllers, branch edge devices, and supporting network infrastructure in line with approved engineering standards. Review vendor security advisories, software recommendations, defects, and EOS/EOL notices, and translate applicable findings into remediation and lifecycle activities. Ensure WAN network devices remain compliant with approved software versions, security standards, operational guidelines, and remediation timelines. Manage software lifecycle and platform currency for Cisco routing and switching platforms and Versa SD-WAN infrastructure. Plan and execute code upgrades, patch deployments, configuration updates, platform remediation, technology refresh, and WAN modernization activities. Perform pre-upgrade assessments, compatibility reviews, configuration validation, risk analysis, and post-upgrade health checks. Prepare implementation plans, rollback procedures, validation plans, technical assessments, stakeholder communications, and deployment documentation. Create and maintain Change Requests, Change Tasks, implementation records, approvals, technical evidence, and closure documentation in accordance with EY processes. Present technical changes during CAB reviews and address implementation, impact, risk, dependency, validation, and recovery considerations. Coordinate testing, outage planning, deployment execution, stabilization, and post-implementation validation across technical teams and stakeholders. Perform advanced troubleshooting of Versa SD-WAN overlays, underlay WAN connectivity, routing protocols, and enterprise routing infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving BGP, OSPF, route policies, path selection, WAN failover, VPN services, traffic steering, QoS, and application forwarding policies. Diagnose and resolve issues affecting WAN links, ISP circuits, SD-WAN fabric health, branch connectivity, cloud connectivity, and data center interconnects. Work with vendors, carriers, service providers, and internal teams to restore services and resolve complex technical issues. Serve as the technical lead for incidents affecting WAN infrastructure, routing platforms, SD-WAN services, and production upgrade activities. Participate in outage calls, major incident bridges, and technical recovery activities; perform root cause analysis and define corrective and preventive actions.
