About this role

Our team is at the forefront of driving the growth and success of Google's hardware in Japan, including flagship products like Pixel smartphones, Watch, and Buds. Collaborating closely with major Japanese telecommunication carriers and retail partners, we meticulously craft and execute go-to-market strategies, optimize distribution channels, and elevate the customer experience. Working cross-functionally with product, marketing, logistics, operations, and legal teams, we seek a highly motivated individual to forge robust partner relationships, identify untapped opportunities, and lead initiatives that expand the adoption of the entire Pixel ecosystem. Our goal is to cement Google's hardware portfolio as a preeminent brand in the engaging Japanese market. As a Strategic Partnership Manager, you will manage and lead relationships with multiple partners—specifically Telco partners and key distributors—to drive the broader partner strategy across both B2B Enterprise and B2C channels. You will identify, negotiate, and implement effective business development agreements that drive results. You will contribute to account scoping, prospecting, and resource allocation, while helping resolve partner issues with foresight to build scalable processes for future challenges. Integrating with marketing, you will grow in-country sales and drive business across all channels. Acting as a subject matter expert and the primary contact for your partner portfolio, you will develop rich internal and external relationships utilizing your comprehensive knowledge of the market and partner ecosystems.

Lead and manage end-to-end strategic partnerships with Telco partners as well as key distributors across both B2B enterprise and B2C channels. Develop Go-to-Market (GTM) plans, including pricing strategy, sales volume goals, and incentive program design tailored for both B2B enterprise and B2C partner environments. Review sales progress, manage demand forecasting, and control product lifetime volume. Collaborate and align with internal stakeholders, including other strategic partnership teams and a broad spectrum of other functions, such as marketing, finance, legal and compliance, operations and go-to-market. Develop/deliver proposals and pitches to partners for the Pixel and Ecosystem product lines, and draft/manage agreements with partners regarding assorted products.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 10 years of experience in sales, business development, partnerships, or management consulting in Consumer Electronics, Auto, OEMs or Telecom industries. Ability to communicate in Japanese and English fluently to interact with internal and external stakeholders. Preferred qualifications: 3 years of experience in partnership management or related roles. Experience in B2B enterprise sales or enterprise business development. Experience in sales or business development within the manufacturing/hardware OEM industry. Experience in global/overseas sales or managing international cross-border business initiatives. Knowledge and experience in mobile phone/mobile handset sales, business development, or sales strategy with Japan Telecom carriers.
