What We Are Looking For

The Operations Specialist position is located at 23725 W County Farm Road, Shorewood, IL 60431. This is a Monday through Friday position with some on-call responsibilities nights and weekends.     The Operations Specialist is responsible for the operation, and maintenance of gas pipelines and compression related facilities, with significant complexity above typical maintenance operations as determined by the Department.

What You Will Do

Job Responsibilities: Responsible for the operation and maintenance of pipelines, working with land owners and other affected public adjacent pipelines, working within compression facilities to include compressors, engines, turbines, fans, pumps, valves, seals and other plant related equipment. Install, repair, service and maintain valves, pipe, and any other pipeline appurtenances. Responsible for the general upkeep, maintenance general cleaning activities, etc. of all facilities and equipment, including pipeline right-of-way, storage areas, offices and compression facilities. Participate in Capital and O&M projects in a support role for work including excavation oversight, air mover operation, pigging support, leak surveys, etc. Represent the Company during contacts with landowner/tenants, public officials/emergency officials and at local meetings. (One Call, Pipeline Groups, Soil Conservation, USFS, etc.) Oversee construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties. Train and oversee company and third party personnel as required (e.g., personnel in progression, transport drivers, contractors, and visitors) Perform governmental compliance activities (PHMSA, State Agencies, EPA, USFS, etc.). Identify report and correct safety and environmental concerns. Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives. Participate in the development of O&M procedures, site specific procedures, project scopes, and work plans. Complete all applicable documentation and record keeping. Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, regulatory, and Company tariff requirements. Must respond to, and address, call-outs and emergencies after regular business hours including after dark hours. Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Complete other related duties as assigned. What You Need Position Requirements Educational Requirements: A high school diploma or GED as a minimum. Any applicable industry education, training, or experience is desirable. Preferred two year degree or equivalence in a technical or mechanical field. (mechanical or industrial maintenance) Competencies, skills, and abilities: Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, various operating systems, and other software). Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals). Good verbal and written communication skills. Customer focus. Strong mechanical skills are needed. Available for shift work and standby when applicable. Ability to work with others as a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules. Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with a minimum of supervision. Ability to work with customers, suppliers, other operations groups, engineering staff, and management. Ability to safely operate a vehicle over rough terrain. Experience/specific knowledge (above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position): Gas compressor stations, and pipeline system operations. Maintenance tracking database activities and requirements. Line locating equipment and one-call requirements. Reading and interpreting blueprints, P&IDs and other diagrams. Safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquid, and high/low pressure systems. Certifications, licenses, registrations: Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet company insurability requirements.
