Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we’re calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications. The “ Facilities Engineer ” will be based in Columbia, South Carolina reporting to Facilities Manager. In charge of continuously driving a culture of excellence in the organization and enabling waste removal activities using lean and six sigma approaches and tools and guiding actions to a sustainable conclusion. General Purpose:     Applies engineering values to design, modify or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment or processes used in processing or manufacturing products.  What a typical day looks like: Research facility products or equipment specifications and performance requirements to define designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods. Research engineering proposals, process requirements and related technical data pertaining to industrial facilities machinery and equipment design. Defines feasibility of designing new plant facilities equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning and other technical and economic factors. Provides technical facilities information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning. Compiles and research facilities research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment. Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks. Guides projects and project teams.

Associate’s Degree required (Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred). AutoCAD experience required. Additional experience with SolidWorks preferred. 3 or more years of industry work experience from manufacturing companies (automotive, electronics or medical device, or similar), required in: Continuous Improvement project management experience, including facilitation and training experience. Must be able to guide direct projects based on business initiatives and customer needs. Demonstrates detailed expertise situations and multiple areas. Comprehends the strategic impact of the function across sites.
