About the Role

Grade Level (for internal use): 08 The Team S&P Global Ratings' Financial Services practice delivers forward-looking credit insights on banks, insurers, and other financial institutions as part of a global Credit Ratings team of approximately 1,400 analysts across key financial markets worldwide. The team assesses capital strength, funding and liquidity, asset quality, and governance to support rating opinions that markets rely on. Based in Sao Paulo, this role partners with analysts across South America — including in Mexico City and Buenos Aires — to support surveillance, rating activities, and credit research. Responsibilities and Impact This role contributes accurate, timely, and well-structured analysis that informs rating committee decisions and external publications, directly supporting the team's ability to deliver trusted credit insights. Maintain high-quality research and data packs; collect, clean, and validate financial data; and support financial model maintenance, ensuring consistent and decision-ready outputs. Monitor issuer, sector, and market developments, producing concise, well-sourced summaries that help analysts move faster and support client and market engagement. Contribute to team productivity through reusable templates, checklists, and process improvements, including the responsible use of approved AI tools to reduce rework and improve turnaround time. Apply confidentiality, documentation, and governance standards to all work, ensuring AI-generated outputs are validated, corrected, and appropriately attributed.

What We're Looking For

Basic Required Qualifications An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in financial institutions, accounting, consulting, or large corporations. Demonstrated ability to conduct research and synthesize data into clear, accurate, and structured outputs. Strong spreadsheet skills, with a willingness to learn data and automation tools to improve reliability and consistency. Experience using generative AI or large language model tools to support research, paired with strong validation discipline and sound judgment on appropriate use. Effective written and verbal communicator, able to present findings in a structured way that supports informed decision-making. Additional Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with credit analysis, financial statement analysis, or risk assessment through academic coursework, internships, or professional experience. Exposure to financial data platforms, large datasets, or dashboard tools; experience supporting financial models is an advantage. Interest in process automation and applying new tools within a governed, quality-controlled framework. Capital markets exposure is a plus.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred. A master's degree or professional certification (such as CFA) is highly valued. We welcome candidates from traditional finance disciplines as well as diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking.

We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer. Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
