SURVEILLANCE OPERATOR
The Surveillance Operator is responsible for the real-time surveillance of camera systems, rapid response to security alerts, and dispatching of personnel. This role serves as a critical first line of defense in maintaining situational awareness and ensuring timely response to incidents across the facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Active Camera Monitoring: Continuously monitor multiple live camera feeds to detect suspicious activity, safety hazards, or security breaches in real time
• Alarm Alert Clearing: Receive, assess, verify, and clear security alarms according to established protocols while maintaining accurate records of all events
• Dispatching: Coordinate and dispatch security officers, maintenance teams, emergency services, or other responders as needed using radio, phone or dispatch systems
• Incident Command: Assume incident command for security events until relieved by higher authority; provide clear direction, gather critical information and coordinate response efforts
• Document all incidents, alarms, dispatches and actions taken in the incident management system with accuracy and attention to detail
• Maintain constant communication with field teams, supervisors and other departments
• Identify and report system malfunctions, camera outages, or technical issues to the appropriate support team
• Follow all standard operating procedures, post orders and emergency response protocols
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times while handling sensitive security information
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalency certification
• 2+ years of experience in security monitoring, CCTV operations, or dispatching
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Excellent visual attention to detail and ability to monitor multiple screens simultaneously for extended periods
• Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills under pressure
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• History of critical incident handling experience
• Computer based proficiency, including security monitoring software, MS Office and dispatch systems
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Working knowledge of security principles, alarm systems and incident command practices
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to work in a Security Operations Center (control room) environment
• Position is subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing
• Valid driver’s license
• Must be able to sit for long periods while maintaining focus
• Eligible for a US Government security clearance
• Availability to work scheduled shift as needed to include nights, overtime, weekends, holidays and rotating schedules
• Monday to Friday
• 1st Shift: 5am to 5pm
• 3rd Shift: 5pm to 5am
