About this role
The Color Engineer is responsible for improving color quality performance through enhanced process understanding, data utilization, and workforce capability. This role partners with Quality Control, Production, and Technical teams to reduce finished goods sampling through proactive management of tint paste performance, color variation, and appearance characteristics. The Color Engineer serves as the site's subject matter expert in color science and leads initiatives that improve color consistency, measurement practices, and overall process effectiveness. Key Responsibilities • Drive quality improvements by leveraging color, Sparkle, Jetness, and other appearance data not currently utilized in routine QC decision-making. • Evaluate formula / RM robustness and effectiveness and color generation processes to improve color consistency and reduce rate of finished goods sampling. • Analyze production and quality data holistically to identify sources of color variation and opportunities for process improvement. • Lead projects that improve alignment on color standards, specifications, and appearance expectations. • Develop and deliver training on color science fundamentals, color measurement, and appearance evaluation for laboratory and manufacturing personnel. • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions related to color and appearance issues. • Act as the site technical resource for color measurement systems, appearance characterization, and color-related process improvements. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field. • Experience in color science, quality control, coatings, pigments, or manufacturing quality systems. • Demonstrated experience leading teams, projects, or technical initiatives and influencing cross-functional stakeholders. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and training skills. • Experience using color and appearance data to drive quality and process improvements. • Ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence technical decisions. The salary for this position is $88,500 to $99,500.
