About this role

Are you looking for an exciting job where you can put your skills and talents to work at a company you can feel proud to be a part of? Do you want a workplace that will challenge you and offer you opportunities to learn and grow?  A   position at Xcel Energy could be just what you’re looking for. At Xcel Energy, our employees are the driving force behind our success. So we make sure that, here, you can be your best. Doing work that makes a difference for neighbors and communities. Working with a team you can count on to push you. Expanding skills, staying ready for change, and capturing opportunities to grow. All with the support, rewards and recognition you need to thrive – during your internship and beyond. Xcel Energy is modernizing the systems and processes behind every customer interaction through its multi-year CIS Modernization Program. Within the program, the Customer Core organization is structured into functional towers that each own a major area of the customer lifecycle. This role sits on the Credit & Collections functional tower, which is responsible for the processes and system capabilities that manage customer credit, billing collections, payment arrangements, deposits, and past-due accounts.  The Business Analyst Intern will support the Credit & Collections tower within the Business Transformation team, working alongside experienced business functional consultants and transformation leaders. The intern will help gather and document business requirements, support functional design workshops, and contribute to the analysis that shapes the future-state solution. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn business analysis on a large-scale enterprise transformation while building domain knowledge in the utility industry. The position is based in Boulder, Colorado, with a hybrid schedule and occasional collaboration at the program's Denver work location.  Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Assist in gathering, documenting, and organizing business requirements for Credit & Collections processes and system capabilities.  Support requirements and design workshops — preparing materials and capturing notes, decisions, and action items for follow-up.  Help document current-state ('as-is') and proposed future-state ('to-be') processes, and maintain requirements traceability.  Compile and summarize data to support analysis, decision-making, and status reporting.  Coordinate with business subject-matter experts, functional consultants, and other towers to clarify open questions.  Support testing activities by helping document test scenarios and track results as capabilities are validated.  This position is for a May 24, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.
