Job Summary

Join Pratt & Whitney in Asheville, NC as a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Inspector and help ensure the quality and airworthiness of aircraft components through advanced non-destructive testing methods. You’ll perform inspections using methods such as FPI, X-Ray, Ultrasonic, Etch, and CT, interpret results, document findings, and provide technical support to operations. This is a 2nd shift position: Monday - Thursday, 4:15pm - 2:45am What You Will Do: Perform non-destructive inspection (NDI/NDT) methods such as Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI), X-Ray, Etch, Ultrasonic, and CT Scan, based on qualifications and training. Clean and inspect aircraft components in accordance with customer specifications, airworthiness directives, applicable Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) requirements, engineering data, and operating procedures. Identify and evaluate structural and material defects, interpret test results, complete inspection documentation, and communicate findings. Maintain NDT equipment and ensure proper setup, processing, identification, and segregation of components throughout the inspection process. Maintain current knowledge of applicable customer, FAA, JAA, and other technical requirements related to assigned work. Read and interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing/part drawings, and technical data to support inspection activities and provide guidance to cross-functional teams. Perform in-process checks and dimensional verification using a variety of fixed, variable, and automated measuring equipment and inspection gauges. Complete required Solumina job audits for OpCert surveillance and perform OpCert over-inspections, as required. Provide technical support to the operations team and maintain strong working relationships across functions. (Certified Level 2s) Train NDT trainees and Level 1 inspectors on equipment setup, processing, and inspection techniques, as applicable to certification level. Support a safe and productive work environment while following all applicable quality, safety, and operating procedures. Perform physical activities required for the position, including standing and walking for extended periods, bending, reaching, pulling, and pushing.

Qualifications

You Must Have:  High School Diploma or GED 1+ year of experience in at least one NDT method (such as FPI, X-Ray, Magnetic Particle, CT, Ultrasonic, or Etch) OR a certification or degree in an NDT method.

Qualifications

We Prefer: 2+ years of experience in at least 1 NDT method Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical data, with experience using Keyence, inspection gauges and GD&T. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience training, mentoring, or providing technical guidance to others. Experience with SAP or Solumina.
