About This Role The Heat Transfer Group in Carrier’s Mechanical Center of Excellence is looking for a motivated and experienced engineer to join the team. In this role you will help develop advanced heat exchanger solutions for Carrier’s global HVAC&R portfolio. The candidate’s primary responsibility will be to evaluate heat transfer technologies through component and system testing, supported by modeling tools, to advance product development. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners to drive innovation and improve Carrier products’ performance, cost, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead technology development programs and deliver on-time solutions to customers. Support new product development programs and contribute to the design heat exchangers and other thermo-fluid components. Support benchmarking, development, validation, and implementation of advanced heat exchanger technologies through component and system level testing. Develop physics/data based thermo-hydraulic models for modeling tools. Apply state-of-the-art design and simulation tools to optimize heat exchanger performance. Innovate, develop, validate, and deploy new heat exchanger technologies for Carrier’s current and growing range of products. Work with cross functional product development teams to ensure successful insertion of new designs into Carrier products. Assist in developing state-of-the-art design and simulation tools; plan and conduct bench top experiments for calibration and validation of modeling tools. Provide support to product engineering teams to ensure proper application of new heat transfer technologies throughout the product development cycle.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years thermal systems engineering experience Or Master’s degree with 3+ years thermal systems engineering experience Preferred Qualifications: PhD degree. Knowledge of the fundamentals of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics as well as heat transfer and heat exchanger design. Understanding in two-phase flow and heat transfer including boiling and condensation. Experience in mechanical and thermal design using numerical and analytical models; CFD/FEA familiarity is a plus. Experience in computer programming language e.g., Python, EES and MATLAB. Good communication and organization skills. Ability to solve problems independently and complete assignments in a timely manner. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to creatively overcome obstacles to achieve project objectives. Pay Range The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. Other Compensation This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
