As a fly-in, fly-out operation, Red Chris is reached via charter flights from multiple locations in BC and Alberta, with teams working on a rotational schedule. Currently an active open-pit producer, Red Chris is poised for an exciting transformation – we are developing a high-value underground block cave that will extend the mine’s life for decades and unlock even more resources. The remote location fosters a close-knit “camp” community where safety and teamwork come first. The mine has been in operation since 2015 and has been operated by Newmont since 2023.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Red Chris is now transitioning from open pit mining to underground block caving—an advanced mining method that extends mine life while reducing environmental impact.
