Job Title: Engineering Technician Lead Job Code: 44488 Job Location: Palm Bay, Florida Job Schedule: 9/80, 1st shift Job Description: This opportunity is for a Lead Engineering Technician position with the L3Harris Environmental Test Laboratory. Candidate will setup and execute environmental testing projects designed to take L3Harris products to the limit of their functional and structural design. Candidate will learn to operate climatic chambers designed to replicate the freezing temperatures of earth poles, the scorching temperatures of the deserts, the humidity of the jungles, the altitudes of the skies, and the frigid vacuum of space. Similarly, the candidate will learn to operate electrodynamic shakers where harsh vibration environments are reproduced to test products for their survivability to transportation, gun fire, aircraft-carrier arrests, and rocket launch conditions. Candidate will be working in a team orientated environment in a laboratory that runs year-round. Activities include (but are not limited to) the handling and manipulation of extreme high value hardware, installation of instrumentation such as thermocouples and accelerometers, programming of test chamber computer control systems, monitoring of data acquisition systems, monitoring/controlling chamber/shaker performance. This position is for 1 st shift (7am-4:30pm) with the occasional need for overtime to support customer demands. Essential Functions: As the Environmental Test Lab Floor Lead, you will provide technical oversight for climatic and vibration testing within the lab by coordinating technician staffing and managing daily lab activities. Key responsibilities include: Handling and manipulating high-value hardware with care and precision Installing instrumentation such as thermocouples and accelerometers Programming environmental test chamber control systems Monitoring data acquisition systems Monitoring and controlling chamber and shaker performance Leading technician training efforts and overseeing the lab’s 5S program Additional responsibilities include serving as lab custodian, which involves: Maintaining equipment calibration status Performing monthly safety audits Ensuring adequate lab supply levels Coordinating transportation of fixtures and equipment to and from storage In this role, you will also: Support Engineering and Maintenance teams with complex tasks and troubleshooting Lead assigned tasks and activities as needed Train junior technicians in thermal, dynamic, and vacuum testing Lead daily resource planning meetings Attend Corrective Action Board (CAB) meetings Perform weekly spot audits Act as a liaison between engineering staff and internal customers Perform hands-on technician duties in support of active test programs Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years of relevant Aerospace experience, or Associate degree or 2 years of post-secondary education with a minimum of 4 years of related experience Preferred Additional Skills: Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with environmental test equipment, including vibration shakers, thermal chambers, and vacuum systems Experience operating and troubleshooting environmental test equipment
