Job Overview
The Drafting Engineer is responsible for producing patterns designs and for designing, developing, and testing electronic and embedded systems. The Drafting Engineer collaborates with various teams to bring projects from conception to completion using CAD software and simulation tools. This role also contributes to testing and design modifications to improve the quality and function of existing products. A Day In The Life
Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by: Contributing design modifications to improve the quality and function of the products. Interacting with mechanical and software engineers, sales, and production, as well as with vendors and board houses. Create 3-D models and 2-D drawings for multiple transformer product lines. Create detailed 2-D component and assembly drawings from customer and vendor drawings or models. Per engineer's general direction, produce and/or revise drawings. Maintain consistency in drawing layout and appearance per company standards. Ensure proper filing of issued drawings in both physical (if applicable) and electronic files. Provide feedback to appropriate engineers as to problems or questions related to work in progress. Resolve drawing related manufacturing and/or purchasing issues with appropriate plant personnel. Analyze dimension requirements and apply appropriate tolerance specifications as required. Provide working copies of drawings to engineers and production personnel as necessary. Acquire technical data via catalogs, the internet, vendors, to create models and drawings Transform initial rough product designs or sketches into working models and documents. Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings What will help you thrive in this role?
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science or a related field (required) Proficiency in CAD Software such as Altium Designer for schematic capture, PCB layout, Gerber generation & verification, and library management (required) Must have at least 2 years of practical AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Inventor experience. Experience with transformer manufacturing and practices is desired. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office and Outlook. Familiarity with spreadsheets and other business applications is desired.
