Position Specific Description The Principal Analyst, Portfolio Performance & Risk will support the monitoring and assessment of performance and risk across the portfolio, with primary responsibility for coordinating portfolio reporting, a monthly portfolio-wide performance and risk update for leadership. This role will bring together standardized financial, operational, and performance metrics with risk information and company-specific developments to create a concise, consistent view across the portfolio. This position will work closely with portfolio companies and internal stakeholders to validate results, understand key drivers, identify emerging trends and risks, and translate information into clear, decision-useful insights. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and able to move beyond compiling information to identify what changed, why it matters, and what leadership should be watching . Key Responsibilities: Monthly Portfolio Monitoring
Coordinate and produce monthly data collection, validation, analysis, and preparation of the leadership update. Compile standardized financial, operational, commercial, and other key performance metrics across portfolio companies. Work with company and functional teams to understand material changes in performance and the drivers behind reported results. Identify significant variances, trends, outliers, and developments requiring additional attention. Develop concise commentary that highlights key takeaways and provides context around company and portfolio performance. Maintain reporting calendars, data definitions, templates, and quality controls to support a consistent and efficient monthly process. Identify opportunities to streamline and automate recurring reporting and analysis.
Risk Monitoring & Analysis
Incorporate key risk indicators and changes in company risk profiles into the monthly portfolio view. Work with risk owners and other stakeholders to gather and synthesize information on material risks, emerging exposures, and mitigation activities. Track changes in risks and mitigation actions over time. Assist in identifying common themes, emerging issues, and potential risk concentrations across the portfolio.
Portfolio Analytics & Insights
Perform analysis of company and portfolio performance to identify trends, variances, and areas of potential concern or opportunity. Support the development and maintenance of dashboards, scorecards, and other portfolio-monitoring tools. Conduct ad hoc analysis in support of portfolio management, risk management, and leadership priorities.
Stakeholder Coordination
Build effective working relationships with portfolio company teams and internal partners across finance, risk, and other functions. Coordinate recurring information requests and follow up on questions or inconsistencies. Help ensure information provided across the portfolio is timely, accurate, and based on consistent definitions and reporting standards. Prepare materials and analyses for discussions with management and other stakeholders.
Highly Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, engineering, data analytics, or a related field. Approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience in portfolio management, FP&A, corporate finance, risk management, strategy, investment analysis, business analytics, or a related discipline. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with financial, operational, and risk data. Ability to
