Qualifications

The following are the requirements for the Pharmacy Technician position.

Skills

Knowledge and Abilities: Good verbal and written skills. Knowledge of basic computer keyboard with some familiarity with computer technology and programs. Able to maintain confidentiality of patient information. Good attention to detail. Able to concentrate on task for extended periods of time. Able to accurately enter data for six to seven hours daily.

Education

High school diploma or equivalency. Licensure/Certifications: None required but must complete a facility approved Pharmacy Technician Education Program. Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.

Experience

None required. One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician or Medication Administration Technician is preferred. Physical/General Requirements: Able to sustain physical activity for eight hours per day. Able to lift, lower, push, and pull 50 pounds (i.e. receiving, storing, and distributing medications and supplies). Able to stand, walk, and reach for 80-90% of the time (i.e. dispensing medications). Able to bend, stoop, and perform a full range of body motions. Able to use the telephone for extended period of time. Able to frequently use hands and fine motor skills (typing, preparing and dispensing medications, and equipment maintenance). Able to frequently write legibly, using grammatically correct structure (i.e. documenting and maintaining records, drug profiles, etc.). Able to use the computer for extended periods of time. Able to hear, verbally
