What You Will Do
Provide analytical support for detailed design, through development, validation, certification, manufacturing and operational service. Use FE and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, damage tolerance, containment, kinematic and optimization analyses. Cover validation testing (engine and rig) and data-reduction. Support in-service field investigations. Participate on multi-discipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weight. Provide leadership oversight and technical guidance for less experienced engineers and outsourced tasks. Coordinate with others to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods. Document and present results to management and external customers.
Qualifications
You Must Have Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) with 8+ years of structures experience OR Advanced degree with 5+ years of structures experience The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications
We Prefer Background in structural analysis with demonstrated problem solving skills using FEM for stress/deflection, vibration, and performing LCF, HCF, Fracture Mechanics or Kinematics analyses. Strong communication and task leadership/coordination skills. Structures experience including analytical methods (FEA), hand calculations, and spreadsheet methods Background in turbomachinery Experience analyzing strength, stress, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance Excellent analytical, problem solving and trending skills. Advanced proficiency with ANSYS APDL and / or Workbench. Demonstrated leadership in engineering continuous improvement. Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills A security clearance is beneficial but not required.
