Job Description
Due to continued strategic growth and a promising pipeline, we are looking for a Design Manager with strong aviation experience to join our team. This role can be based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary building engineering design teams across architecture, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, fire protection, ICT, security, acoustics and other specialist disciplines. Drive the successful delivery of complex aviation projects, with a particular focus on airport terminals and the integration of building services within operational environments. Work closely with clients, airport operators, end users, contractors and specialist consultants to understand operational requirements and translate them into coordinated, practical design solutions. Manage design coordination from concept through detailed design and delivery, identifying and resolving interfaces and design conflicts across disciplines to ensure an integrated outcome. Provide design leadership across project programmes, managing design risks, technical assurance, programme requirements and stakeholder expectations while maintaining quality and buildability. Lead design reviews and coordination workshops, bringing together technical specialists to resolve issues, challenge assumptions and ensure the design meets project, operational and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications

The qualities that help you thrive: Ideally, 10+ years’ experience in the building engineering, design or construction sector, with experience progressing into design management or multidisciplinary project leadership. Proven experience delivering complex multidisciplinary projects, with airport terminal and/or broader aviation experience highly desirable. Strong understanding of multidisciplinary building design and the interfaces between architecture, structure, MEP, fire, security and specialist engineering disciplines. Demonstrated experience leading design teams, coordinating consultants and working directly with clients and key project stakeholders. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to bring together diverse technical disciplines and drive decisions. A practical, solutions-focused approach to design coordination, with a strong understanding of programme, risk, quality, constructability and technical governance.
