Job Description
The GIS Specialist will support infrastructure and roads engineering projects by leveraging Geographic Information Systems technology for design, mapping, and spatial analysis. This role combines technical GIS expertise with infrastructure and transportation systems knowledge to support project planning, asset management, and system optimization. Key Responsibilities: • Works under general supervision on infrastructure and roads systems GIS projects. Programs and designs Geographic Information Systems for roads infrastructure mapping, network analysis, and spatial planning. Under supervision, contributes to the design and development of geodatabases for road networks, transportation corridors, and infrastructure assets. Compiles, validates, and analyzes GIS data related to roads infrastructure, traffic systems, and engineering networks. Creates spatial databases and manages geospatial information for infrastructure planning and design applications. Generates technical maps, reports, and spatial analyses to support infrastructure engineering decisions and transportation system optimization. Converts, transfers, and integrates GIS data from multiple sources using industry-standard GIS software and engineering applications. May supervise technicians in data assembly, quality assurance, and GIS input/output processes for infrastructure projects. Receives instruction on specific infrastructure assignments, engineering objectives, and complex spatial analysis requirements. Applies sound professional judgment in resolving technical GIS challenges related to roads and infrastructure engineering projects.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or related field Minimum 5 years of professional experience in GIS design, development, and spatial analysis Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing Geographic Information Systems for infrastructure and transportation projects Proficiency with industry-standard GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, or equivalent platforms) Strong experience in geodatabase design, development, and management for large-scale infrastructure networks Proven ability to compile, validate, and analyze geospatial data related to infrastructure systems and transportation networks Experience creating technical maps, reports, and spatial analyses for engineering and infrastructure planning applications Proficiency in GIS data conversion, integration, and transfer from multiple sources Strong technical problem-solving skills and sound professional judgment in resolving complex GIS challenges Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document technical processes and findings Preferred
