Building a reliable market data processing system

Quantitative trading firms like GSA Capital make trading decisions based on market data. The timeliness, accuracy and reproducibility of the data influences the quality of these decisions greatly. This talk will focus on the architecture of a real-time tick-by-tick market data processing system, and engineering subtleties of building a reliable system of such.

Speaker

Woody Lam is a Software Developer at GSA Capital working in the Execution Services Group. His primary focus is on improving the quality of tick data processing. He joined GSA in 2025 after graduating from the University of Cambridge with a MEng in aerospace and aerothermal engineering, specialising in turbomachinery.

Audience

We welcome students of all academic levels from the Department of Computer Science and Technology at the University of Cambridge. The Tech talk will be followed by informal chats with representatives from GSA over lunch. Please register interest so we can gauge numbers for catering purposes. Please note this event is reserved for students enrolled at the University of Cambridge.
