Job Description
AECOM is looking for a Principal Pavements Engineer to join our Melbourne team and play a leading role in delivering some of Australia's most significant infrastructure projects. This is an opportunity to influence the future of major aviation, ports and transport projects while providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams. You'll work with industry-leading specialists, build trusted client relationships, mentor the next generation of engineers and help grow AECOM's Pavements capability across Australia and New Zealand. How you'll make a difference Provide technical leadership and oversee the successful delivery of complex pavement engineering projects across aviation, ports and transport infrastructure. Lead multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring high-quality, innovative and practical engineering outcomes. Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities to support business growth and contribute to winning new work. Act as a trusted technical advisor, providing specialist guidance on pavement design, rehabilitation strategies, asset management and lifecycle planning. Review and approve pavement designs, technical reports, specifications and drawings across all stages of project delivery. Interpret pavement investigation and testing data, including FWD, HWD, GPR, LWD, profiler and surface friction testing, to develop practical engineering solutions. Mentor and develop engineers across the business, fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing. Contribute to the ongoing growth of AECOM's Pavements practice through innovation, collaboration and industry engagement.
Qualifications
The qualities that help you thrive The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered. Degree qualified Civil Engineer with significant experience in pavement engineering, ideally 15+ years within a consulting environment. Chartered Engineer and/or RPEV accreditation, or working towards registration. Demonstrated experience leading the design and delivery of major pavement projects across transport, aviation and/or ports infrastructure. Recognised technical expertise in pavement design, rehabilitation, materials engineering and construction methodologies. Strong understanding of Australian pavement design standards and investigation techniques. Proven ability to develop client relationships, contribute to business development activities and support successful project bids. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams while mentoring and developing engineers. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills, with a passion
