About this role
Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all . Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever. The CMP Process team works on developing and enhancing semiconductor manufacturing processes that support next-generation memory products. Working within a collaborative engineering environment, the team conducts fundamental research, evaluates process performance, and develops innovative solutions that meet increasingly complex device requirements. As an intern, you will gain broad exposure to semiconductor processing while developing expertise in Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) process technology. You will work under the guidance of experienced engineers on a dedicated technical project focused on process development, optimization, and characterization. The internship culminates with a presentation of your technical contributions and project results to engineering collaborators.
Responsibilities
Develop and evaluate CMP processes that meet product requirements for physical and electrical performance in advanced DRAM technologies. Partner with multi-functional process and equipment engineering teams to identify, implement, and validate process improvements. Apply root-cause analysis and failure-mode methodologies to identify process limitations and drive corrective actions. Conduct fundamental research and experimental studies to support next-generation semiconductor process development. Analyze statistical process and manufacturing data and apply Artificial Intelligence, AI Assisted tools, or AI-Enabled methodologies to improve process understanding, data analysis, and project efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related technical field. Must be enrolled as a student and continue academic studies beyond September 2027. Demonstrated experience with experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of technical results. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative reasoning skills. Ability to manage project work independently and communicate technical findings effectively through presentations and written reports.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with semiconductor processing, materials characterization, process development, or manufacturing research. Knowledge of advanced statistics, statistical process control (SPC), process optimization, or design of experiments (DOE). Experience applying root-cause analysis, failure analysis, or model-based problem-solving methodologies. Programming or scripting experience using tools such as Python, MATLAB, JMP, R, or similar analytical platforms.
Experience
Applying AI, Using AI, or Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to improve research workflows, process analysis, data interpretation, automation, or engineering productivity.
