We are looking for a Lead Scientist Allergy Innovation with deep expertise in allergy and allergen science to join our R&D Product Innovation department in Uppsala. This is a senior scientific role for someone who combines recognized subject-matter expertise and an experimental R&D background with the ability to build strong external relationships, drive scientific collaborations, influence scientific strategy and translate emerging science into future innovation opportunities. Our interdisciplinary Product Innovation team works across R&D to identify, evaluate and advance new product and business opportunities in the areas of allergy and autoimmunity. In this role, you will help shape the future of our innovation portfolio, drive early-stage innovation projects and contribute to advancing allergy diagnostics through both internal R&D and external scientific collaboration. How will you make an impact? As Lead Scientist you will be a trusted scientific expert, combining deep expertise in allergy and allergen science with a strong understanding of experimental R&D to identify, evaluate and advance new diagnostic opportunities. You will drive early innovation projects from scientific concept through experimental validation and maturation, while connecting our R&D organization with leading external scientific and clinical expertise. You will build and develop relationships with internationally recognized Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), researchers and academic partners, translating these relationships into active scientific collaborations. Working closely with colleagues across R&D, Medical & Scientific Affairs, Global Marketing and Business Development, you will provide senior scientific guidance to help identify unmet clinical needs and promising innovation opportunities. What will you do? Serve as a senior scientific expert in allergy and allergen science, providing guidance across innovation and R&D initiatives. Lead and drive early-stage innovation projects and scientific collaborations with internal R&D teams and external research partners to address unmet needs, evaluate and mature new scientific and product concepts, generate supporting evidence, and prepare successful innovations for transfer into product development. Build and maintain strategic relationships with leading KOLs, clinical researchers and academic collaborators worldwide. Monitor developments in allergy, immunology, diagnostics and emerging technologies to identify future innovation opportunities. Evaluate scientific evidence, clinical data, and experimental results to provide clear strategic recommendations and scientific guidance for product concepts, technology evaluations, and innovation portfolio decisionsCollaborate across R&D, Medical & Scientific Affairs, Global Marketing and Business Development to connect unmet clinical needs with potential solutions. Represent Thermo Fisher Scientific at scientific conferences, advisory boards and external meetings. Drive and contribute to scientific publications, presentations and scientific communication. What will you bring? Essential experience and qualifications PhD preferred, or a Master’s degree with equivalent experience, in Immunology, Allergy, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline. Deep and recognized expertise in allergy, allergen science and/or closely related immunology. Significant experience from the life sciences, diagnostic or medical device industry. Substantial experience in experimental life science R&D, including immunoassay development and a strong understanding of experimental and assay design, data interpretation and troubleshooting.
