A Day in the Life Patient Care Systems (PCS) develops the digital platforms, connectivity solutions, and clinical applications that support the management of implantable cardiac devices. The organisation delivers software systems that enable secure device communication, remote monitoring, clinical decision support, and data-driven insights that help healthcare professionals manage patient care. This role is based at the Parkmore Campus in Galway, Ireland, and follows a hybrid working arrangement. As a Senior Software Engineer in Test, you will contribute to the verification and validation of software systems supporting implantable cardiac device therapies. Working across the software development lifecycle, you will design and implement automated test solutions, strengthen continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) capabilities, and collaborate with software engineering and quality teams to improve product quality, delivery efficiency, and regulatory compliance in a medical device environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and tools supporting software verification activities. Lead the expansion of system-level test automation capabilities across software platforms and applications. Develop and enhance CI/CD automation to improve test execution reliability, scalability, and efficiency. Partner with software engineering and quality teams to define verification strategies that meet product and regulatory requirements. Support the setup, validation, maintenance, and optimisation of test infrastructure and environments. Mentor engineers on automation best practices, test design, and quality-focused development approaches. Influence automation strategy, tooling selection, and engineering standards across cross-functional teams. Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and support parallel and distributed test execution.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science and 4+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 2+ years of relevant experience in software testing or software engineering. Hands-on experience developing automated test solutions using tools such as Selenium and Appium. Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C#, JavaScript, or Python. Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining automated testing frameworks and verification solutions. Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and software development lifecycle practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience testing software applications in Android and iOS environments. Experience supporting system integration testing and risk-based verification activities. Knowledge of healthcare software, healthcare data, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), or data privacy requirements. Experience working within a regulated industry such as medical devices, healthcare, or life sciences. Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to support software development, test automation, and troubleshooting activities.
