About this role
Reporting to the Manager, Microanalysis Instrumentation, the Engineer, Microanalysis Instrumentation is responsible for adjusting, testing, and optimizing microanalysis instruments to achieve the performance levels defined in specifications. The role requires autonomy, adaptability, and a proactive approach to instrument qualification, installation, customer support, and continuous improvement activities. Key Responsibilities Instrument Adjustment, Testing & Validation
Perform instrument adjustments and adapt actions as required to complete testing and resolve malfunctions in complex situations while following established protocols. Monitor equipment during the Making Available (MAD) phase. Record and maintain accurate documentation related to instrument progress, MAP documentation, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), shipping activities, and other relevant records. Demonstrate compliance with contractual specifications and validate delivery of FAT instruments for standard specifications, including remote support when required.
Installation, Customer Support & Training
Install instruments at customer sites or provide remote installation support. Conduct Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) to support customer acceptance of instruments for standard specifications. Perform maintenance activities and equipment testing for customers. Install accessories and upgrades on customer equipment. Train customers on instrument operation and maintenance procedures using effective teaching and communication skills. Prepare clear and systematic reports on activities performed, including internal work, customer site interventions, and after-sales service activities. Regularly propose action plans based on observations and customer needs.
Continuous Improvement
Identify and propose improvements through Engineering Changes (EC), Lean initiatives, and other relevant improvement actions. Participate in the development and maintenance of technical documentation related to the activity. Contribute to the creation of technical training materials. Support and train new team members according to established programs and frameworks.
Requirements Education & Experience
Engineering degree with broad and adaptable knowledge in areas such as:
Electronics Physics Analysis techniques Micromechanics Ultra-high vacuum technologies
Entry-level candidate or professional with initial experience in a similar environment, such as:
Scientific instrumentation Medical instrumentation Semiconductor equipment manufacturing Large-scale instruments Special-purpose machinery

Strong communication and teaching abilities. Demonstrated capacity to learn complex technologies through extensive internal training programs. Methodical, rigorous, and autonomous approach to work. Strong teamwork and collaborative mindset. Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
