The Clumio backend team designs, builds, and operates the cloud-native systems behind Clumio's data protection solutions — from the core SaaS platform to the systems that back up and recover large volumes of enterprise cloud data. In these environments backup is a compliance-, audit-, and security-driven requirement rather than a nice-to-have, so recovery performance, cost efficiency, and reliable operation at scale are our key differentiators.

Built on a fully cloud-native architecture, the platform scales dynamically with workload, delivers faster recovery and lower cost than native cloud backup, and stays correct under real-world failure conditions through reprocessing and retries. Beyond core backup and recovery, the team also builds customer onboarding, metering and billing, reporting, alerting, and ML-driven insights. As a Principal Engineer on the Clumio backend team, you serve as a senior technical leader across the data protection platform. Reporting to the Engineering Director, this role combines deep hands-on engineering with broad architectural ownership, shaping systems that are foundational to customer trust and recovery guarantees.
