Position
Summary This is the entry level of the EHS Consulting classification hierarchy. This position provides comprehensive environmental support to Customer Delivery and Transmission organizational sections in OH/KY/SE IN. Employees at this level solve problems in environmental areas of specialization, with general supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. They have knowledge of fundamental concepts and procedures.
Responsibilities
Starts to develop and increase knowledge of the organization, procedures and assigned customers and can begin to analyze and understand information, past practices and business objectives to make appropriate recommendations to management/assigned customers. Serves as single-points-of-contact or coordinators to implement environmental activities that require broad knowledge and experience in order to provide compliance solutions to EHS issues. Assists higher level teammates on monitoring the practices of assigned organizational areas, e.g. Environmental, Safety, and / or Health, to facilitate compliance with company and/or regulatory policies and requirements in which to mitigate risks. Examples include providing basic regulatory-required and internal environmental reports, basic support assigned environmental training programs, basic support with the development and maintenance of procedures and programs to assist facilities in complying with environmental and regulations, assisting the work of others to ensure that Duke Energy work procedures address compliance guidance and helping track regulatory changes, legislative activities and industry standards. Assists higher level teammates with researching, developing, and/or evaluating programs, policies or activities within the discipline they are assigned; solves a range of straight forward problems and develops solutions using standard procedures. Assists with providing information/consultation to management/assigned customers on existing EHS programs and policies. Examples include serving as an associate expert for basic technical programs and compliance issues and supports company’s environmental and safety goals, strategies, programs and processes. With assistance from a Senior or above, the incumbent develops and maintains procedures and programs to assist facilities in complying with environmental and safety laws and regulations. Helps advanced teammates ensure that Duke Energy work procedures address compliance guidance. Assists with tracking basic regulatory changes, basic legislative activities and basic industry standards and helps advanced teammates with identifying needed changes to facility’s compliance programs. With appropriate leadership guidance they may assist with working with federal, state and local regulatory authorities to interpret regulations and laws. Supports Duke Energy on various internal/external industry committees and teams. Develops positive working relationships with peers, customers, employees and management to effectively complete work activities.
