About this role Your Team The Global Workplace Planning team is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of the firm’s corporate real estate strategy. This includes the strategic space planning, site acquisition and lease negotiation, design and construction and the ongoing management of the firms leases and rental payments. Within Workplace Planning, the Global Design & Construction (D & C) team is responsible for the planning and execution of capital projects, which includes requests for space alterations, renovation projects and fit out of new office locations. Additionally, D&C owns and implements global space and design standards for BlackRock offices. The Workplace Design Lead has responsibility for BlackRock’s Global Workplace Design Standards and furniture programs. The position reports into the Global Head of Design and Construction (D&C) and will work closely with D&C Regional Leads and other functional leads within Workplace Planning. You will be an ambassador and subject matter expert on the design and space standards, leading to bring consistency and functionality to support BlackRock’s flexible workplace. Your Responsibilities
Program ownership of BlackRock’s Global Workplace Design Standards. Responsible for design consistency for architecture, furniture, interior design, and signage across projects globally Ensure alignment and coordination on standards and specifications with other functions, i.e., MEP, Health & Safety, Sustainability and Technology Provide design support for all real estate projects Work closely with the D&C regional leads in the Americas, EMEA and APAC to ensure consistent application of the design standards globally Manage the furniture program and maintain list of current products that are functional, cost effective, meets standards and part of one of BlackRock’s global furniture agreements Partner with H&S on creating solutions for ensuring an inclusive environment from a workplace design perspective Support the evaluation of furniture to meet ergonomic requirements Be a partner and design resource to Workplace Experience colleagues, who operate our facilities Manage BlackRock’s Global Art Program Work with the Art Curator on the acquisition of new art and management of existing collection Ensure alignment with BlackRock’s brand and standards Develop and manage the annual global art budget Leverage design tools like Saltmine and Revit for internal design reviews using 3D models and renderings Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, or related field from an accredited college 6-8 years of progressive advancement in design management in the design and construction of office interiors Experience with the office furniture industry, knowledge of current products and trends Well versed with interior design trends and innovations in workplace with a feel for finishes and materials Experience in sustainable office design. LEED or similar accreditation is preferred but not required Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels
