Summary: As a Scientist 2 within Illumina’s Advanced Science team, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary research team to help create new sequencing methods. You will play an important role in the research and development of sequencing reagents and consumables with the world-class performance, stability and robustness characteristics that our customers require.

Responsibilities: Be the main contributor of project and lead investigation to solve cross-functional problems in collaboration with key stakeholders Plan and optimize research ideas leading to new methods and chemistries for sequencing in a fast-paced environment Explore new technologies, troubleshoot and identify creative solutions to overcome current limitations Design, implement, analyze and present experiments to demonstrate feasibility of new technology with limited instruction Be a collaborative team member and individual contributor. Conduct clear and concise communication with colleagues (cross-functional) and supervisors through oral updates, written reports and technical meetings Upkeep of lab equipment, laboratory supplies and good housekeeping Listed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position. Requirements: Proven track record in innovation, scientific creativity and scientific output in new chemistry, bioconjugates and material science Expert in synthesis and analytical techniques for small molecules, nucleosides, nucleotides, oligonucleotides and/or peptides Excellent laboratory, experimental and organizational skills Strong team player with proven collaboration, innovation, and openness character traits Collaborates effectively at a program level and with stakeholders Attention to detail A self-starter, positive, and driven with a “can do” attitude.
