About this role
We are looking for a General Manager to own the strategy, product direction, operating model, and business outcomes for Command, Asana’s dedicated product for software development teams. Leading across Product, Engineering, Design, Data Science, User Research, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success, you will align team priorities to transform technical work orchestration into a scalable enterprise business. In this cross-functional leadership role, you will define market strategy, drive product quality, and establish Command as a pivotal pillar in Asana’s broader human-agent operating system vision.
This role is based in our New York City office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements.
What you’ll achieve
• Develop and communicate a clear, legible strategy and roadmap for Command within Asana’s product portfolio.
• Own the business plan and operational metrics, including adoption, retention, engagement, and commercial expansion.
• Build, lead, and scale a customer-centric cross-functional organization spanning product, engineering, go-to-market, and research functions.
• Drive overall product quality, performance, and developer trust in close partnership with Engineering and Design.
• Define how AI Teammates and the Enterprise Work Graph create differentiated workflows for technical teams.
• Establish clear go-to-market positioning, packaging, and enterprise proof points to drive repeatable customer demand.
About you
• Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.
• Experience as a GM, product executive, founder, or equivalent leader with clear ownership of a product line or business.
• Deep familiarity with software development workflows, including planning, issue or ticket management, source control, code review, CI/CD, release management, or engineering operations.
• Experience building products for both individual practitioners and enterprise buyers.
• Experience taking a product from early product-market fit toward repeatable enterprise growth.
• Experience applying AI to real customer workflows, particularly where durable context, collaboration, governance, and accountability matter.
• Experience working in a multi-product platform company and navigating portfolio-level tradeoffs.
• Track record of end-to-end accountability for strategy, execution, and commercial performance of a technical product area.
• Strong product judgment with an ability to solve high-value problems for software engineers, engineering managers, and enterprise decision-makers.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and align cross-functional partners through influence across PM, Eng, Design, Data, Sales, and CS.
• Demonstrated experience developing product leaders, coaching team members, and building scalable operating systems.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating complex choices into concise executive and customer alignment.
