About this role
Are you interested in building platform capabilities that make it easier for game developers to build, launch, and operate games? Do you enjoy working in an environment where you need to define the product and technical direction while also delivering for customers today? Amazon is looking for a Software Development Manager to lead the Omni team and help define the next phase of our game services platform. Omni provides common services that game teams can use instead of building and operating these capabilities independently. The platform supports capabilities including identity and account management, commerce, social features, player profiles, statistics and leaderboards, inventory, notifications, moderation, live content, code redemption, privacy, and integrations with other Amazon and third-party services. As the Software Development Manager for Omni, you will own the engineering team, technical direction, roadmap, and execution for the platform. You will work closely with game teams, publishing, product, and other engineering organizations to understand what capabilities developers need and translate those needs into reusable platform services. A key part of this role is defining how Omni evolves from supporting individual game integrations into a platform that can efficiently support multiple games and customers. You will drive investments such as multi-tenancy, simplify the developer integration experience, and help determine which capabilities should become part of the long-term Omni platform. You will lead an experienced engineering team that already owns and operates production services. Your role is to provide strong day-to-day engineering leadership while also looking ahead: defining the roadmap, improving the architecture, developing engineers, and ensuring the platform can scale as adoption grows. Key job responsibilities - Own the technical strategy and roadmap for Omni and work with engineering, product, publishing, and leadership to prioritize investments. - Lead and develop a team of software engineers responsible for building and operating Omni services. - Define the architecture required to evolve Omni into a scalable multi-tenant platform capable of supporting multiple games and customers. - Work directly with game developers and publishing teams to understand their requirements, integration challenges, and opportunities to simplify game development. - Drive improvements to the developer onboarding and integration experience, reducing the engineering effort and time required for games to adopt Omni. - Partner with senior engineers to review architecture and technical designs and make long-term technology decisions for the platform. - Own delivery and operational excellence across Omni services, including availability, scalability, security, and cost. - Identify opportunities to build reusable capabilities rather than solving similar problems independently for each game. - Define success metrics for the platform and regularly communicate roadmap, execution, risks, and customer adoption to leadership. - Build a strong engineering culture through coaching, career development, technical discussions, and clear ownership.
