About this role
Come work at a place where innovation and teamwork come together to support the most exciting missions in the world! Qualys is seeking a Data Platform Architect to design, scale, and support our next-generation SaaS cloud security data platform and microservices infrastructure. In this role, you will architect, prototype, and optimize high-throughput data platform components processing millions of transactions per second across relational, NoSQL, graph, and message pipeline systems.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain high-throughput, microservices-based SaaS cloud data platform architectures. Optimize performance, high availability, security, and scalability across relational databases, NoSQL databases, search engines, graph databases, and message queues. Instrument Day 1 and Day 2 operations to manage cloud platform workloads processing millions of transactions per second. Review cloud-native architectures, facilitate cloud migration strategies, and maintain zero-downtime scalability. Partner with engineering, product management, and operations teams to align infrastructure features with corporate business objectives. Conduct technical knowledge-sharing sessions, proof-of-concept (POC) evaluations, and architectural reviews with application development teams.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 8 years of experience in data platform architecture, software engineering, or enterprise big data engineering. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Demonstrated experience architecting and operating distributed databases (NoSQL, Relational, Search Engines, or Graph Databases) at scale. Hands-on experience designing and deploying high-throughput message pipelines and distributed streaming systems. Proven experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS architectures with high-availability requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. Direct experience managing transaction workloads operating at scale (e.g., millions of operations per second or multi-terabyte daily volumes). Deep technical expertise in containerization, microservices deployment, and cloud-bursting strategies. Experience conducting architectural evaluations and leading brown-bag training sessions for development teams.
