The salary range for this position is CAD $45,000- CAD $55,000. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity. What the day will look like The Underwriting Assistant supports the underwriting team by reviewing incoming submissions, preparing files for underwriter review, entering and maintaining client information in insurer portals and internal systems, and producing policy documentation and reporting. This role demands strong attention to detail, accurate data entry and reconciliation, and the ability to prioritize several tasks while offering responsive service to brokers and internal collaborators. The Underwriting Assistant is responsible for processing new business applications, policy changes, and cancellations through insurer portals, while supporting underwriting, rating. The role also includes obtaining required reports and maintaining complete and accurate client records in internal policy management systems. Review and process new business applications, policy change requests, and cancellations in insurer portals. Follow up via email with brokers and internal partners to obtain outstanding information required to complete processing. Obtain supporting documents such as payment schedules and loss runs from insurer portals for broker requests. Advise brokers of quote and premium differences and support communication of underwriting requirements. Enter and maintain accurate client and policy information in internal policy management systems, including Xpress and Xuber. Prepare declaration pages, policy documents, bordereaux, aggregate reports, and reconciliation files as required. Develop working knowledge of insurer portal requirements. Maintain quality control standards by reviewing work for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to service level expectations. Call out complex issues, complaints, or exceptions to the appropriate team lead or manager. Support additional administrative tasks and special projects as assigned.
