A Day in the Life The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician supports manufacturing operations within Medtronic’s Value Added Assembly (VAA) environment, helping ensure equipment reliability, process continuity, and production performance. This role partners with production, engineering, and operations teams to maintain and improve automated manufacturing systems and welding equipment used in the production of healthcare technologies. This position is located in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota and is an onsite role supporting the VAA West Room. The role is aligned to a Weekend 3rd Shift schedule of 40 hours per week: Friday 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Saturday 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Sunday 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, and Monday 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining equipment uptime through troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, equipment repair, and continuous improvement activities. This position supports automated manufacturing equipment and welding systems in a controlled manufacturing environment and serves as a key technical resource during off-shift operations. The successful candidate will work independently, respond to equipment downtime events, and collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve issues that impact operational performance. This role supports a Weekend 3rd Shift schedule, with the greatest business need occurring during the extended Saturday and Sunday coverage periods.

Primary Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and repair automated manufacturing equipment, welding systems, and mechanical devices to minimize production downtime and maintain equipment uptime. Perform preventative maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment in accordance with established schedules and procedures. Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and performance. Install, modify, test, and repair mechanical equipment, components, and systems used within the manufacturing environment. Fabricate and assemble new or modified mechanical components to support production equipment and process improvement initiatives. Partner with engineers, production supervisors, and production team leads to implement technical solutions that improve equipment operation and manufacturing efficiency. Conduct quality assurance and quality control testing to verify equipment performance and compliance with operational requirements. Respond to equipment downtime escalations during off-shift operations and independently prioritize maintenance activities with limited supervision.

Required Qualifications

Requires 3+ years of relevant technical experience, which may include a combination of practical experience and applicable training, education, or certification.
