About this role
Our team provides a managed SQL server offering, which is the fastest growing database service in Cloud SQL. The team manages all aspects of database service implementations, which includes availability, backups, database point of time recovery, performance improvements, integration with Google Cloud Ecosystems, and growing the customer base with our premium Enterprise Plus offering. As an engineer in the team, you will play a critical role in designing and building a highly reliable and scalable infrastructure to run Cloud SQL for SQL Server product. You will explore and adopt new cloud based infrastructure technology, adapt and grow in a changing agile environment. Write product or system development code. Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies. Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency). Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback. Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and its impact.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. 2 years of experience with software development using one or more programming languages (e.g., Go, Java, Python, or C++). 2 years of experience building, designing, or maintaining database infrastructure, database internals, or distributed database systems. Experience with building managed services for databases or storage. Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields. Experience troubleshooting database engine performance, optimizing relational databases, and writing complex SQL queries (particularly for SQL Server). Experience building and integrating with Cloud APIs, and developing scalable solutions on Cloud Computing platforms. Experience designing high-performance workflow systems and API design.
