The engineer must have the ability to resolve complex EM structures into simplified models and to condense complex simulation results into design guidelines. The candidate shall also be responsible for coming up with new measurement setups to validate the simulation results. In this regard, the engineer is expected to have a solid theoretical knowledge in electromagnetic theory, transmission lines, computational electromagnetics, antennas and EMC design. The job will largely focus on design input based on EMC/RF exposure theoretical analysis and simulation data. In addition the engineer will be responsible for supporting external customers with EMC/regulatory design challenges for products based on Qualcomm chipsets. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of Hardware Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

Perform SAR/EMI simulations for prototype and commercial equipment. Conduct related EM measurements to validate simulation data. Analyze simulation and measurement results to generate design guidelines and recommendations. Analysis of EMC related data (emissions, immunity, SAR, TRP, TIS, sensitivity). Handle multiple design projects concurrently. Provide design guidelines and consultation to wireless devices for compliance with regulatory, EMC, and self-compatibility requirements. Skills/Experience: Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory, antennas, computational electromagnetics and EMC design. Strong understanding and experience with quasi-static and full-wave 3D EM simulation tools. Proficient with test equipment (vector network analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc). 3-5 years of related experience. Knowledge of EMC test procedures and methods to achieve compliance (emissions, RF safety, immunity, ESD, etc) with CDMA/GSM/UMTS wireless devices. Knowledge of FCC, R&TTE, and other international regulatory certification process and requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
