We are seeking a Studio Designer to join our Color, Materials, and Finishes (CMF) team on-site at our 14600 Myford location. We are intentionally looking outside the traditional automotive sphere—seeking fresh, creative perspectives from interior design, fashion, motion graphics, and broader visual arts. In this role, you will work closely with dedicated mentors and design leadership, bringing elevated taste, strong graphic design sensibilities, and innovative digital workflows to shape the future look and feel of Rivian products.

Participate in hands-on, in-person design reviews at our 14600 Myford studio, presenting ideas and receiving real-time feedback from the team. Translate abstract concepts into refined CMF palettes, mood boards, and visual narratives using your personal aesthetic and strong design fundamentals. Leverage AI tools and technologies within your creative workflow to save time, build animations, generate visual assets, and push conceptual boundaries. Craft custom visual presentations (via personal website or tailored PDF) that showcase exceptional graphic design layout, composition, and storytelling without relying on off-the-shelf templates. Collaborate fluidly across the CMF studio using digital communication tools like Slack and active studio work sessions. Work closely with team mentors and leadership to refine material selections, color strategy, and design execution.

A background in Interior Design, Fashion Design, Motion Graphics, Graphic Design, or a related creative discipline. (Automotive background is not required or expected—we want non-automotive creative voices). A portfolio submitted via website link or PDF that demonstrates undeniable taste, aesthetic refinement, and a clear personal style from the moment it is opened. Include any passwords to access. High AI fluency with a proven willingness to implement AI technology into your creative process to streamline tasks and build dynamic visuals/animations. Superior graphic design and presentation layout skills, showing an intentional eye for imagery selection, typography, and visual pacing.
