In this role, you will ensure that inspection methods, equipment and metrology processes deliver accurate, reliable and compliant results throughout the product lifecycle. This role follows an on-site work model and requires employees to work from the local Boston Scientific facility. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.   Your responsibilities will include:

Develop, validate and optimize dimensional measurement methods for precision injection-molded components. Develop and support in-process inspection systems, inspection plans, control plans, sampling strategies and data collection methods. Program and operate coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), optical measurement systems, vision inspection systems and other advanced metrology equipment. Develop inspection programs based on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) requirements and applicable industry standards. Perform measurement system analyses, including measurement uncertainty, gauge repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R), capability studies and statistical process control (SPC). Support mold qualifications, process transfers, process development and production startup activities. Develop inspection strategies for complex molded components with tight dimensional tolerances. Analyze dimensional variation related to molding parameters, tooling wear, material variation and manufacturing processes. Partner with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to investigate dimensional nonconformances and support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities. Develop and execute validation protocols and support equipment qualification and measurement equipment traceability. Review engineering drawings for manufacturability and inspection feasibility. Evaluate emerging metrology technologies and automation opportunities that improve inspection efficiency, measurement capability and process performance. Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce process variation and strengthen measurement systems.

Required qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, plastics engineering, metrology or a related technical discipline. Minimum of 5 years’ combined metrology and manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience developing or supporting dimensional measurement and inspection systems. Experience supporting process validation and equipment qualification. Experience interpreting complex GD&T requirements and developing corresponding inspection methods.
