Job Description
Essential Job Functions: The network engineer evaluates new technologies and products in order to document the product specifications and configurations as related to the network environment. Performs testing in a lab environment to evaluate various network design, concepts, performance, features, and configurations of network devices for integration into a standard network platform. Documents standard network device installation, configuration, and operations guides for delivery to Operations in support of new products and services. Supports QA Engineers involved with network test efforts in the areas of documentation and problem resolution. Works together with Engineers from the field to troubleshoot and resolve persistent and escalated issues especially those related to the CMTS platform. Post development, interacts with the operations group to communicate/knowledge transfer product details for deployments. Job Requirements: Successful candidate will have at least 7 years of network engineering experience, preferably with a cable Multiple Service Operator (MSO) or other service provider. Experience with Cable Modem Termination System ( CMTS ) equipment, specifically Cisco, Arris and Motorola platforms is a must. Thorough understanding of Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) and Hybrid Fiber Cable (HFC) plant is a must. Understanding of BGP and OSPF is required, and experience with Quality of Service (QoS), multicast, Voice over IP (VoIP) and Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS) is desired. The candidate must be a team player, with an inherent ability to work well under tight timelines, and have strong problem-solving capabilities. Will be required to share experience, skill, and talents with associates. Will be expected to work well with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
CCIE, CCIP,JNCIE-SEC, CISSP and/or any other vendor/industry certification is a plus Education and Experience: X Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
