The George Washington University Capital Medical Group (formerly known as the GW Medical Faculty Associates) is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Comprehensive Ophthalmologist to join a respected academic ophthalmology program in the heart of Washington, DC. This position offers a rare blend of high‑quality clinical care, cataract surgery, and hands‑on teaching within a thriving academic environment. Candidates will manage a wide range of ophthalmic conditions, provide essential comprehensive services and play a key role in educating residents and medical students. Quick Facts Employment Type: Full-time (preferred); part-time, and per diem options available Schedule/Hours: 8 am-5 pm Call: Shared and well-paid Patient Volume: 30-40 patients daily (excluding surgery and admin time) Location: Washington, DC Practice Setting: George Washington Hospital and GW Capital Medical Group Support Team: Administrative Assistant, Ophthalmic Technician Academic Teaching Opportunity: Educate and mentor residents and students; potential leadership opportunities EMR: Epic Responsibilities Provide comprehensive ophthalmology care including complex cataract surgeries to a diverse patient population Educate medical students and ophthalmology residents through didactics and clinical/surgical encounters Contribute to the coverage of the GW Hospital Emergency Department. This call is shared with the other members and paid per night.
Compensation & Benefits
