Job Summary
This position falls under the Plant job family and includes responsibilities related to metals processing and distribution within the company. The Warehouse Material Handler is responsible for pulling, filling, cutting orders, and handling inventory and shipping tasks. The role requires basic equipment operation and practical knowledge of materials, facilities, and operations used in metals distribution. Tasks include reading job orders, verifying material, operating machines and equipment, and maintaining safety and order in the warehouse environment. Job Function Essential Job Duties Move inventory or equipment, fill customer orders, pull material from racks, unload incoming material, load trucks and customer vehicles, and maintain the warehouse. Receive and return items into stock locations. Read and decipher work orders; verify heat numbers and material specifications. Operate cranes, forklifts, side loaders, yard trucks, saws, and other heavy equipment as required. Place materials into storage or remove them for order fulfillment. Tag material for identification and complete documentation. Sort and place materials by size, type, or product code. Coordinate with team to ensure efficient and safe machine and equipment operations. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Perform spot checks on inventory and restock materials as needed. Drive company vehicle for local deliveries and parts pick-up (non-DOT).
Required Skills
Qualifications 1-2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Valid Driver’s License preferred. Experience in warehousing or material handling is preferred. Ability to obtain certification to operate motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
