Job Description

Matt Ryan, Team Manager - Environment, NT AECOM's environmental practice is dedicated to helping industries, clients and governments meet their environmental responsibilities while protecting the natural environment. We provide advisory and technical services to ensure compliance, manage impacts, and reduce risks, including obtaining permits and approvals, decommissioning and restoring contaminated sites, and tackling climate change challenges and resilience. We focus on preserving habitats, water quality, stakeholder engagement and cultural resources, promoting a holistic approach to environmental impact management at every project stage. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced botanist to work across two of Australia’s most ecologically diverse regions. Based in either our Perth or Darwin office , you’ll contribute to projects across both Western Australia and the Northern Territory, combining locally focused work with the variety and career opportunities of a broader regional role. How you’ll make a difference: Lead field-based botanical surveys across WA and the NT, including baseline surveys, monitoring programs, and targeted flora and weed assessments. Work across diverse environments, from WA’s mining regions and metropolitan areas to the unique and remote landscapes of the Northern Territory. Plan, deliver, and analyse ecology surveys independently or collaboratively, performing impact assessments and designing mitigation strategies. Assist in managing the technical performance and delivery of ecological projects, ensuring high-quality outcomes. Share your knowledge and help develop the capability of our growing ecology teams across WA and the NT.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in environmental science, ecology, botany or similar Excellent field skills with 5+ years experience conducting and leading botanical surveys in various WA and NT environments, including mining, remote etc Strong technical reporting skills proficiency in GIS desktop and data collection packages (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS and Fieldmaps) WA driving licence and ability to work outdoors on short and extended field programmes Working knowledge of Commonwealth and State environmental
